re.act.feminism #2 – a performing archive – introduction to the project by Kaj Dorte Osteroth
re.act.feminism is a long-term exhibition and archive project, representing more than 250 film and photo documents exploring feminist, gendercritical and queer performance practices in the transcultural context.
The focus lies on works created in the 1960s through the early 1980s, as well as contemporary positions. The temporary collection enables the audience to study lesser-known and famous works, and to question the “return” of this artistic practice in the form of re-enactments and the potential of archival projects.

re.act.feminism ist ein langfristig angelegtes Ausstellungs – und Archivprojekt, das mehr als 250 Filme und fotografische Dokumente repräsentiert, die feministische, gender-kritische und queere Performance-Praktiken im transkulturellen Kontext untersuchen.
Der Fokus liegt auf Arbeiten, die von den 1960ern bis zu den frühen 1980ern geschaffen wurden, sowie zeitgenössischen Positionen. Die temporäre Sammlung ermöglicht es dem Publikum, weniger bekannte und berühmte Arbeiten zu studieren, und die “Rückkehr” dieser künstlerischen Praxis in der Form von Re-enactments und das Potential archivarischer Projekte zu befragen.
